EAST JAVA

EAST JAVA’S interesting society is what makes it uncommon . the majority of this heterogenous province is Javanese with Madura living in some areas. Its egalitarian, honest and bold citizens gave birth to a range of distinctive art and culture. One of these are Reog Ponorogo, an icon of East Javawith magical ‘kuda lumping’.

Also known as ‘Devout City’, 1500 pesantrens can be found spresded throught out the area. Pay respect to past religious figures at the fivecemeteries of the nine Walisongo in the northern offshore. In Gresik, discover tombs of Majapahit and one 1102 year-old, evidence of Islam’s entry into East Java. Suku Tengger living in theinslands of MountBromo is believed to be the descendants of Majapahit Kingdom.

MOUNT BROMO

            Indulge the soul by witnessing a glorious sunrise admits the crevices of Mount Bromo. Deriving its name from’Brahma’, a god in Hinduism, Bromo is believed to be a sacred mountain by the indigeneous Tengger tribe. Travel to the back of the mountain holding a crater and stretch of sand, and discover a refreshing savanna.
